About Threatnique

Threatnique is an artist based on Gadigal land (Sydney), Australia, specializing in creating hip-hop in its most classic form while exploring new realms that infuse hope, beauty, and fresh perspectives into his music. By blending various styles and experimenting with genre-bending, he has ventured into the electronic, glitch-infused world of bass and the technical intricacies of IDM. His music layers and sounds craft immersive soundscapes that invite listeners to embark on their own unique journeys.

Currently, Threatnique is focused on growing the beat culture and beat scene around Australia through his radio show, "Beat Heads", which he produces and hosts. Airing every Sunday at 8 p.m. on 2ser 107.3FM, "Beat Heads" is dedicated to showcasing beat makers across Australia exclusively. As a music artist, Threatnique seeks to forge real connections with fans who resonate with his music. He is mission-bound to collaborate with authentic artists both locally and globally, while consistently pushing the boundaries of musical expression in the studio.

Threatnique embodies a deep connection between classic sampling machines, vinyl records, and the art of expressive composition. Born in Germany to a German mother, a chef, and a Malaysian father who toured Europe as a musician in the early '80s, he was immersed in a world where food and music were essential for survival. After migrating to Australia at a young age, he struggled to find his place. School felt like a prison from the very first day in kindergarten, and the young migrant who couldn’t speak English felt isolated, often having to navigate life on his own. Music, however, became his escape. Beat-making put him into a flow state of happiness, allowing him to connect with the world in a way nothing else could. His passion lies in pushing the boundaries of genres, fusing multiple influences while staying true to the original techniques of hip-hop culture. His goal is to create soundscapes that are not just heard but felt, taking listeners on emotional and exploratory journeys.

Some of Threatnique’s most notable achievements include winning the TFS and The Chop Music Beat Battle, facilitating The Settlement Music Workshop Program with the Redfern Community Centre, and working on sound design and music composition for short films like "Best Served Cold" and "Love Art Lies". He has also produced and edited podcasts such as *Stuc in the Grind*, and contributed to community-focused projects including Bankstown Council’s children's refugee programs. His debut album, "Finally Here", showcases his skills in production, mixing, and mastering.

Currently, Threatnique is in the phase of mixing and mastering a vast collection of beats stored on his samplers, tapes, reels, and hard drives—there’s a lot of music to harvest. It’s time to release this music into the world while he continues to push the beat culture in Australia through "Beat Heads", community events, and networks. He is also organizing more events and performing on stages. Stay tuned for more updates on beat culture, upcoming releases, and live performances.
